Hi! I’m Mary Ann and I wanted to re-introduce myself as we’ve had a lot of new followers. I am the editor/publisher for Macaroni Kid Amherst/Northampton, Macaroni Kid Deerfield/Greenfield, and Macaroni Kid Easthampton/South Hadley/Southampton. I wanted to share 21 things you may or may not know about me.
I’d love to hear about your families, so feel free to share yours with us!
- I have been married since 1992. I have two children – my daughter (biological) and my son (adopted).
- I am from Easthampton, and currently, live here; but have lived in Chicopee during my college years and in Southampton in the first few years of our marriage.
- I own and operate Mary Ann’s Dance and More (dance apparel store) in Easthampton since 2007
- I am a graduate of Elms College with a Liberal Arts Degree (Major in Spanish/Minor in Art) – won’t list the year…but a long time ago
- I started working in the hotel/restaurant industry in accounting
- I became an administrative assistant at a preparatory school in the Public Relations and Development Offices after the hotel days.
- I was a stay at home mom after my daughter was born in 1994. I was also the leader of her Girl Scout troop and served as “Cookie Mom” for several years.
- I was the Administrative Assistant at my daughter’s elementary school when we started first grade.
- I was out of the workforce for several years riding the emotional roller coaster of infertility/miscarriage.
- I began working for a local dance studio as the office manager in 2007. And that’s where the inspiration to open Mary Ann’s Dance and More came from.
- I, along with my husband, in 2009, completed MAP training and became foster parents to our son, Michael. He came to us when he was 2 weeks old and his adoption was final on National Adoption Day 2011.
- I am the Treasurer for Cub Scout Pack 210 in Southampton
- I am not a morning person at all. I need my coffee to function – don’t talk to me until I’ve finished my first cup!
- I am a strong advocate for my son with all his special needs – don’t mess with Mama Bear!
- I am not a great cook but since March of 2020, I have cooked more than I ever have! My favorite appliance is my Deluxe Air Fryer – what did I ever do without it?
- I have 2 kittens – sisters - adopted from TJ O’Conner – Autumn and Shadow.
- I have 1 dog – adopted from For Love of Labs – Sunny.
- I am so proud of my children – my daughter earned her Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration while working full-time and studying full-time; my son is making strides with all his disabilities and works hard in school.
- I am a strong supporter of #shoplocal – our tagline for the store is “where shopping LOCAL is cool”!
- I am not one to make New Year’s resolution but I am hoping to make “ME” more of a priority in 2021. Maybe someone can be my accountability partner; I did start an online yoga class – 4 days so far!
